This Christmas I was asked to participate in a Sacrament Meeting cantata, "Sing a Song of Christmas" by Janice Kapp Perry. Our director, a very talented musician, pointed out a phrase in one of the songs, explaining that it was one that it had caught her mind and it has since stayed in my mind, beckoning me to ponder.
"What is that shining. Is it for me? Help me to follow, help me believe."
How inspiring. How reflective of each of us. Don't we all feel so small at one point of our life or another. We recognize and come to know Christ. We develop a testimony and believe that it was for us that He lived as well as died. Then, in times of faith and trial, we pray for the strength to follow and continue our belief.
Isn't that the cycle of life. We must strive every day to believe, to continue to belive. That is how we are kept humble enough to listen to the Spirit, to rely on the grace of our Lord. Like the soloist in this beautiful song, we, too, must feel "small" on occasion in order to draw closer to He who gives us the strength of all strength, the hope above all hopes, the love that is the greatest love on all the earth.
